Claudio Giorlandino, was born in Rome on 27 august 1954 where he has been living. He attended regular courses from the elementary education until the secondary education and he got the classical school-leaving certificate.
On 2 november 1971 he entered university and enroled in the School of Medicine at the University ‘Cattolica del Sacro Cuore Policlinico A. Gemelli’ in Rome.
During the degree-course he was appointed by the Rector Houseman student at the Institute of Obstetrics during the academic years 1974/75, 1975/76, 1976/77.
On 15 july 1977 he took the Medical degree with the mark 108/110 presenting the experimental thesis whose title was ‘Alkaline intraleucocytic phosphatase during the menstrual cycle’. His supervisor was Professor Salvatore Mancuso.
In november of the same year he qualified as Surgeon passing the Estate Exam (II session 1977) at the University ‘Cattolica del Sacro Cuore’ in Rome.
During the academic year 1977/78 he was admitted to attend a post gradute course in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University ‘Cattolica del Sacro Cuore’ in Rome.
On 19 december 1977 he entered the Medical Association in Rome and its Province with the following position n. 24812.
On 16 january he enroled in a refresher-course in ‘cytodiagnosis with and without pathologies’ organized by the Medical Association in Rome and its Province.
On 31 march he was admitted by the Rector’s Decree n. 7137 to the hospital traineeship in conformity with the law 18/04/1975 n. 148 and D.M. 28/10/1975 in the specialisation of Obstetrics and Gynecology at ‘Policlinico Agostino Gemelli’ of the School of Medicine of the ‘Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore’ in Rome.
On 30 september he concluded the hospital traineeship deserving the mark ‘excellent’ with the following explanation: ‘Excellent application, ability and willingness’ both in the ward and in the operating-room’.
On 8 october he attended the course ‘Current techniques of cardiotocography and ultrasound in perinatal medicine’, whose Chairman was Professor F. Gasparri’ in Florence.
In the same month he attended the I Refresher-course meeting concerning The use of ultrasounds in the modern Diagnosis organized in Naples by the Italian Society for the study of ultrasounds in Medicine, Chairman Professor Mazzeo.
On 19 december he got the ‘indefinite leave’ under the law of the art. 100 DPR 23 on 14/02/64.
In march he attended the Practical Refresher Course: The fetus, this unknown, that took place in Bari and whose Chairman was Professor A. Ianniruberto.
In october he took part in the International Symposium: Recent Advances in Ultrasound Diagnosis organized in Dubrovnik (Jugoslavia) by the European Federation of the Society for the Ultrasounds in Medicine and Biology.
From 11 april until 13 june he was appointed Speaker for the Refresher Professional course in Obstetrics and Gynecology organized by the Medical Association in Rome and its Province.
On 15 september he was appointed Medical and Hospital Expert by the decision n. 273 of the Health Utility USL RM2. With such qualification he kept on the clinical, obstetrical and gynecological activity in the outpatient department, echography, in the ward, in the delivery room nontheless in the operating room at the specialized hospital in Obstetrics and Gynecology ‘S. Anna’ in Rome.
On 10-11 and 12 april he attended the Refresher Italian and French Course in Breast-disease that took place in Rome.
On 20 november he received the teaching appointment concerning the refresher and graduate course in Ultrasound diagnosis in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University in Chieti, School of Medicine, post graduate course in Obstetrics and Gynecology, director: Professor Pietro Zulli. Such appointment has been confirmed every year and continuously in the following academic years until today, also with Professor Umberto Bellati’s direction.
He was confirmed teacher at the School of Obstetric and Gynecological Ultrasound with Professor A. Ianniruberto’s direction, in the Civil Hospital ‘A. Sarcone di Terlizzi’ (Bari). Such teaching was confirmed in the academic years 1982/1983/1984.
On 1-2 April he was asked to attend the III International Meeting Fetal Ultrasonography and its Clinical Correlations at the University G. D’Annunzio in Chieti.
In may he was appointed teacher for the annual course of Diagnostic pathology and breast disease experience of treatment run by Professors Carenza and Pozzi in Rome.
In april he was appointed teacher for the annual course in Ultrasonography diagnosis in Obstetrics and Gynecology organized by ‘Centro Italiano Congressi’ in Rome run by Professor A. Pachì.
In the same month it was published his first monographic work whose title was the Echography in the physiopathology of the first trimester of pregnancy edited by Pozzi (see monographic works).
On 12 november he attended the cross-disciplinary meeting dedicated to the Obstetric and pediatric problems in the handicap prevention that took place in Rome at ‘Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore’.
In october he was appointed teacher at the Permanent School of Obstetric and Gynaecological ultrasound with its premises in Milan run by Professor Roberto Belgeri at the Hospital San Giuseppe in Via San Vittore, 12.
Between 29 and 31 october he was the Speaker at the VI National Meeting of the Italian Society for The Study of Ultrasound in Medicine in Florence and where he was involved in the single-theme Session concerning the Anatomy of the long fetal bones.
On 29 october he was elected National Councillor of the Italian Society of Obstetric and Gynecological ultrasound during a meeting of the Board of Directors in Florence run by Professor F. A. Catizone. Such appointment was kept till september 1988 when the National Assembly of the SIEOG appointed him Vice-Chairman.
From 30 october until 1 november he was the Speaker at the National Meeting: The specific advice in the family guidance centre organized by ‘Centro Studi Superiori Giuseppe Toniolo’ at the School of Medicine at the University ‘Sacro Cuore’ in Rome.
On 6 november he took a Specialization Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynecology with the mark 70/70.
He is also co-author of two chapters of the Atlas of the Obstetric and Gynaecologic Echography, Editors F.A. Catizone, A. Ianniruberto, P. Zulli, by C.I.C. International Editions in Rome.
During the academic year 1981/82 he was allowed by the Rector to attend the Institute of the Obstetric and Gynaecologic Clinic at the University ‘Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Policlinico Agostino Gemelli’ in Rome. With this qualifiation he attended with application the wards, the delivery room and the operating room, and he was on duty at the obstetric Day hospital.
During the academic year 1981/82 he got the appointment as teacher in Obstetric Diagnosis at the post-graduate course in Obstetrics and Gynaecology of the School of Medicine at ‘Unviersità degli Studi di Cagliari’ run by Professor Salvatore Mancuso.
On 6 february he organized and co-ordinated in Rome, along with Professor A. Vizzone and on behalf of the Italian Society of Gynecologic and Obstetric Echography, the first of the Roman meetings on Gynecologic and Obstetric Echography concerning: fetal malformations. During the meeting he was also the Chairman.
In march he was the Speaker at the International Symposium: Italo-American days of Ultrasonography in Assisi.
Between march and april he was asked to participate as teacher at the XXVII medical week of the hospitals organized by E.S.M.O (Institution of the medical week of the hospitals) and dedicated to prevention improvements, diagnosis and Medical Therapy.
On April he was appointed teacher also for the second annual course of Ultrasonography Diagnosis in Gynecology and Obstetrics, run by Prof. A. Pachì and organized at Centro Italiano Congressi in Rome.
On 17 april he was asked to participate as Speaker at the second refresher meeting on The use of ultrasound in the modern diagnosis organized in collaboration with the S.I.S.U.M. of the Department of Surgical Semeiotic of the Second School of Medicine in Naples, run by Professor F. Mazzeo.
From 22 to 24 april he was asked to take part as Speaker in the meeting on Developments and Perspectives of Ultrasonography in Obstetrics and Gynecology organized by ‘Ospedali Riuniti di Bergamo’, ‘Ospedali Civili’ in Brescia, by the Italian Association of Gynecologic and Obstetric Echography.
On 7 and 8 may he was asked to participate as Speaker in the International Symposium on Meningomyelocele that took place in Rome at the School of Medicine at the University ‘Sacro Cuore’, organized by the Institute of Neurosurgery of the same University and by the Italian Association for the children affected by hydrocefalus and spina bifida.
In may he was confirmed teacher also for that year at the Permanent School of Gynecological and Obstetric Ultrasound in Milan run by Doct. A. Zorzoli at the hospital San Giuseppe, Via San Vittore, 12.
In the period of may and june he was included among the teachers of the theoretic and practical course on Contraception, sterility and infertility during the teaching initiatives of the Medical School at the Hospital S. Anna, via Garigliano, 55 – Roma.
On 9 october he was appointed Chairman at the Meeting Experiences of ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology organized by the post graduate course in Obstetrics and Gynecology of the University in Chieti and by the Italian Society of Obstetric and Gynecologic Echography.
In november he attended an intensive course about Application diagnosis with doppler instruments organized by Sonotron Medical Electronics in Zurich.
In the same year he collaborated with Doct. P. Paparella in the writing of the volume Fetal malformations edited by C.I.C. International Editions in Rome, in a series of single-theme publications supervised by Professors P. Zulli, A. Ianniruberto, F.A. Catizone.

On 11 december he was the Speaker at the second meeting in Rome about obstetric and gynecologic echography whose title was Ovarian dysfunction organized by the Italian society of obstetric and gynecologic echography.
On january he was appointed teacher for the third annual course in Pathology in diagnosis and breast disease treatment run by Prof. V. Pozzi and organized by the C.I.C. in Rome.
Between january and february he was appointed teacher for the Ultrasound Course concerning the Echography in obstetrics and gynecology at the second University in Bari and run by Prof. G. Cagnazzo.
On 1 march the local Health Utility (USL RM2) changed, by the decision n. 110 on 25/02/83 the free and professional advice relation into that of a timeless specialist, according to the National and collective agreement for the doctors with outpatient post graduate contract, decision n. 22/10/1981. With such qualification he kept on working in the outpatient department, wards, echography department, delivery room, nontheless in the operating room.
On 8 april he was asked to attend a conference on the pre and post conceptional genetic researches from the U.C.I.P.E.M. (Union of family guidances before and after the marriage) in the premises in Rome, Via della Pigna 13.
On 4 june he attended as Speaker for the third meeting in Rome in Gynecologyc and Obstetric Echography whose title was: Diagnosis in breast disease organized by the Italian Society of Obstetric and Gynaecologic Echography.
In june he was the Speaker on the subject: Fetal bones in growth retardation and anomalies at the International Refresher course in Fetal medicine, organized by the Obstetric and Gynecologic Department of the hospitals ‘Galliera’ in Genoa.
From 23 to 25 june he attended as Speaker in the Scientific and Refresher meeting for Gynaecology and Obstetrics: Pre-birth surveillance and delivery assistance today organized by the local Health Utility USL 20 in Cagliari and the Obstetric and Gynecologic Clinic of the same University in Cagliari run by Prof. S. In march he collaborated, along with Professor A. Vizzone and Doctor P. Gentili, for the edition of the work: Diagnosis in breast disease that was published in Rome by Pozzi Editor for the monographic work of Gynecology and Obstetrics run by Professor L. Zichella.
In june it was published in Padova the third monographic work whose title was: Gynecologic echography edited by Piccin (see monographic works).
From 30 september to 3 october he was at the LXIII Congress of the Italian Society of Gynecology and Obstetrics where the organizing committee asked him to be the Chairman of the session dedicated to The prognostic meaning of the echographic report in the risk of abortion. He was also asked to participate as Chairman along with Professor A. Pachì in the session of communications about ‘The ectopic pregnancy’.
In september he was appointed as teacher for the first course of the permanent School of echography in Palermo, organized under the aegis of the Italian Society of Medical Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, of the Italian Society of Gynecology and Obstetrics of the Italian Society of Oftalmology. The teaching was dedicated only to the students enroled in the gynecologic and obstetric course, whose Chairman was Prof. M. Maneschi.

On 8 april at the XVI National Congress of the Italian Society of Estetic surgery he was speaker on the Pre and post menopause general and topical treatments at the Centro Congressi Jolly Hotel Midas in Rome.
On 13 may he was asked to participate as teacher at the three-month course of echography and doppler in obstetrics and gynaecology held at the Centro Studi Scientifici ‘G. Moscati’ in Naples, with a lecture on: transabdominal and vaginal gynaecologic echography in pelvis, without and with pathologies and dysfunctions.
On 20 may he was the Speaker at the IV Meeting ‘Fetal uropathies diagnosed in utero: perinatal standard of diagnosis and treatment’ held at the pediatric hospital ‘Bambino Gesù’ in Rome organized by the study group for the prenatal diagnosis. The subject of his report was Intrauterine urinary derivations when and why today.
On 23 may he was asked to participate as Speaker during a base course of hysteroscopy organized by the hospital ‘S. Carlo di Nancy’ in Rome presenting a report on pre- surgery management.
On 26 may he gave a lecture at the International School of Estetic Medicine, and was confirmed teacher for the academic year 1994/1995.
On 30 may he was asked to participate from the Health Ministry, as Expert Member at a meeting of the Health Governing Council.
On 3 june he attended in Catania the Conference A.O.G.O.I. as Speaker with two reports: The FISH and the transcervical taking and embrioscopy and as chairman in the Session Fetal imaging and early diagnosis of malformations.
On 23 june he was the Speaker at Work Shop 1995 organized in Sciacca Sicilian School of Obstetric and gynaecologic Eidodiagnostic, presenting a report on: The check of quality and the professional responsibility in obstetric and gynaecologic echography.
On 6 september he was asked to participate as Expert Member in the Meeting at the preliminary investigation group diagnostic aids, from the Health Governing Council, section III.
On 7 september he was the Speaker at the LXXXI Conference S.I.G.O. in Palermo whose subject was: Echography and phisiopathology of early pregnancy. There he presented a report whose title was: uterine susceptibility – functional aspects.
From 16 to 20 october he took part in the working activity at the maternal and fetal ward of the hospital ‘Port-Royal’ in Paris run by Professor Yves Dumez.

On 25 he attended as Speaker at the Institute of the I obstetric and gynaecologic clinic of the University in Bari the refresher course in transvaginal echography, sponsored by SIEOG presenting a report on ‘Endometriosis’.
On 12 september at the refresher school of the University ‘G. D’Annunzio’ in Chieti he gave a lecture for the post-graduate students of the IV year as teacher on ‘Invasive techniques’.
On 14 september he was the Speaker at the Institute of Gynaecology and Obstetrics of the University ‘Ferdinando II’ in Naples at the Conference ‘Fetal cardiopathies in uterus: diagnosis, management and prognosis’, at the course of fetal echocardiography where he presented during the session transvaginal echocardiography: chances and limits, a work on ‘study of feasibility; times, limits and accuracy’.
On 21 september he was asked to participate as Speaker at the IX refresher meeting and the Non invasive instrumental diagnosis on vascular pathology where he presented in the Session concerning Ultrasound in medicine a report on ‘doppler sonography and colordoppler’ in obstetrics and gynaecology’.
On 30 october in Florence during the 72 National Conference S.I.G.O. in the Session Artemisia of Breast echography he was the speaker presenting a work on ‘the power doppler ultrasound’.
On 26 october he was Speaker in Bari at Villa Ramazzini-Carducci, where he presented ‘cromosomopathies and I.U.G.R.’
On 12 november he was asked to participate in the X Conference S.I.E.O.G. as Speaker where, during the session ‘the echographic screening of fetal malformations’ he presented his report on ‘fetal echocardiography in population at risk’.
On 22 november he was teacher at the Gynaecologic and obstetric clinic at the University ‘G. D’Annunzio’ in Chieti where he gave a lecture on ‘Transvaginal echocardiography in gynaecology’.
At the University ‘G. D’Annunzio’ in Chieti he kept his activity of teacher during the academic year 1996/97 in Obstetric and gynaecologic semeiotic at the post-graduate School in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

On 31 january and 1 februray in Rome it was held the V International Meeting Artemisia of which he was the promoter and organizator. The first day whose subject was ‘present and future in the diagnosis of breast carcinoma’ he was the Chairman; in the Session whose title was ‘state of the art in the instrumental diagnosis’. In the second day whose subject was ‘the delivery and the caesarian section’ he took part in the meeting as Speaker, during the Session ‘The caesarian section, indications and conditions’ he presented a work on ‘Indication to the caesarian section, rationale’. He attended in the same day a ruond table on ‘ethic and medical aspects and related matters of the caesarean delivery: from testimony to comparison’. At this round table direct testifying of chronicle were presented with medical and legal aspects, commented by the gynaecologist by the medical and legal specialists, by the magistrate, the lawyer and the byothicist.
On 3 february he was asked to participate as Speaker at the VI meeting of Reproductive endocrinology that was organized in Siena where he presented a report concerning ‘amniocentesis 1° and 2° trimester’.
On 6 march he attended in Catania at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of the hospital ‘Cannizzaro’ as Speaker a theoretic and practical course of breast echography with a report on ‘endocrine correlates of breast disease’.
On 7 and 11 april he gave as teacher two lectures at the post graduate school in gynaecology and obstetrics for the Academic year 1997 concerning respectively ‘Diagnostic techniques in obstetrics; doppler diagnosis and the most common fetal pathologies IUGR – AGA’.
On 18 april he was again Speaker in Catania at the obstetric and gynaecological Department of the hospital Cannizzato, he was asked to participate from A.O.G.O.I. during a post graduate course in obstetric and gynaecologic echography. His report was ‘the myometry pathology’.
On 8 and 9 may he was again in Chieti as teacher at the University ‘Gabriele D’Annunzio’ where he gave two lectures on ‘infective diseases during pregnancy’ and ‘invasive techniques’.

On 25 april the Italian Association of medical studies of Reproduction asked him to participate in the III Sympsosium on: News about therapies and diagnosis in the sterile couple where he presented a report on: molecular biology, impact in prenatal diagnosis.
On 9 and 10 may he was the organizator and Chairman of the VI international meeting Artemisia, sponsored by the Health Ministry and that was organized in Rome at the ‘Hotel Parco dei Principi’. The subject of the meeting was: ‘International Conference on chromosomal prenatal screening’.
On 16 may he attended as Speaker the refresher meeting on Study of endometriosis in reproduction. Current studies and controversies on medical and surgical therapy at the University of Rome ‘Tor Vergata’, presenting a work on ‘Diagnosis by images of pelvic endometriosis: state of the art’.
On 23 of the same month he was asked to participate in Palermo where he presented a report on ‘Impact of molecular biology in prenatal diagnosis’.
He was again Speaker in Sicily in Brucoli invited by the University of Catania where he presented a report on ‘The role of echography and doppler’.
On 27 june he attended in Cagliari at the Regional Hospital for microcythemias a course on ‘screening of fetal anomalies during the first trimester’ and he presented a report on ‘multiple-pregnancy’.
On 30 november during the XI National Congress SIEOG that was held in Naples he was the Speaker with a letione magistralis on ‘The tridimensinal in obstetrics’.
From november he was included in the Scientific Committee of the maternal and infantile Sicilian journal run by professor Salvatore Meli during the Prenatal diagnosis session.
He was again Health Director of Artemisia in Rome (Centre of prenatal diagnosis and fetal and maternal medicine).

On 20 february he attended as Speaker the refresher-course in obstetric and gynaecologic echography at the IV opertative unit in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, run by Professor D’Addario at the University of Bari where he presented his report on ‘The tridimensional in the gestational capacity’.
Professor Bartoletti of the Italian Society of estetic surgery asked him to attend in Rome on 26 march two reports: the aging of the endocrinal system during menoapause and The diagnosis and the substitution hormonal treatment during menopause’.
On 27 march he was in Catania at the specialistic hospital of maternity ‘Santo Bambino’, always as Speaker, during the refresher course in perinatal medicine (fetal malformations) where he presented his work ‘Epidemiology of fetal malformations in the third trimester of pregnancy’.
On 24 april at the centre Artemisia in Lecce during the meetings in Lecce of Diagnosis in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (the perinatal element of fetal anomalies in the 2000 year: from diagnosis to treatment) he presented a report whose title was: epidemiology in the ultrasound diagnosis of fetal malformations’.
On 27 may the Italian Society of medical study of reproduction (SISMER) in Bologna organized in Trieste the IV Symposium on ‘New diagnostic and therapeutic strategies in the sterile couple’; he was Speaker and presented his report on ‘molecular surveys during pregnancy’.
On 7 june the Artemisia Group in Rome organized a Conference at the Hotel ‘Parco dei Principi’ where Professor Giorlandino, the only speaker, presented ‘Phisiopathology and clinic of gestational implant’.
In Marina di Ragusa on 12 june he presented a work on ‘Current news in ultrasonography and doppler’.
In the city of Termoli he was the Speaker during a meeting on Handicap prevention (prenatal and perinatal prevention) on 3 july. His report was ‘Perinatal echographic prevention’.
On 2 october Artemisia Centre in Terni in collaboration with SISMER in Bologna organized at the Hotel Garden Terni a meeting on: Sterility, yesterdy, today and tomorrow’ where he was asked to participate with his report on ‘Phisiopathology and clinic of gestational implant’.
In Palermo in the Castle of Cacciamo he was asked to participate on 9 october as Chairman during the course of Fetal echocardiography.
The subject of menopause will be discussed on 28 october in Monopoli (Bari) as Speaker where he presented the report ‘Echography’.
On 9 november the AOGOI invited him in Catania to participate in the VIII post-graduate course in obstetric and gynaecologic echography. The main subject was ‘From echographic element to diagnosis’: focusing the basic ultrasound and anomalous images: the central nervous system’.
On 19 november the hospital ‘San Pietro’ Fatebenefratelli organized a meeting on ‘pregnancy, delivery and mass media (being born in the 2000 year) where he presented a report on ‘Screening on perinatal medicine’.
Also San Benedetto del Tronto (AP) was the place for one of his conferences as Speaker on 26 november during the International Conference Handicap Today 2 aimed at the prevention, diagnosis, therapy, chances and limits of this reality. He presented a work whose title was ‘Biophisical study of the fetus in preventing the cerebral ipoxymia’.
On 1 and 2 december he attended as Speaker (phisiopatolgy of the gastroenteric tract in the fetus and its morphologic and echographic evolution) and as Chairman (Session: jejunum-ileal occlusions) during an International Symposium on ‘prenatal diagnosis of atresias and digestive occlusions of the fetus’ organized by the pediatric hospital ‘Bambino Gesù’ in Rome.
On 11 december always at the hospital ‘Bambino Gesù’ he was the Speaker about: ‘morpho-functional indexes in the diagnosis of vital breathing ability in the fetus’.
In the new millennium his appointments are: Health Director of Artemisia in Rome (Centre of prenatal diagnosis and maternal and fetal medicine) and the new centre that the Artemisia group opened in Milan; Expert Witness at the Civil Court in Rome; Expert Member of th Health Governing Council, Scientific Director of the Journal Ultrasonica (Italian journal of ultrasounds in obstetrics and gynaecology) edited by CIC International Editions in Rome.
On 14 january the A.S.L. AV2 in Solofra (AV) asked him to participate at the I refresher course in obstetric and gynaecologic echography. His report presented in the Session dedicated to obstetrics was ‘ventriculomegaly and colpocephaly’.
On 26 february in Termoli (CB) it was organized the Conference between the regions Abruzzo-Molise (SIEOG) where he attended as Speaker and presented his latest considerations on ‘phisiopatology of the fetal intestinal system’.
On 5 may the ASL 1 Alto Molise Agnone Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology asked him to attend at the Conference on: questions in obstetrics where he presented a report on ‘screening in prenatal medicine’.
From 9 to 11 june it was organized in Cenerente (PG) Castle of Oscano a course by Artemisia Association on ‘choiced topics of updating in prenatal diagnosis and fetal medicine’ of which he was the promoter and during which he presented as Speaker his latest reports on ‘Topics of fetal and cerebral pathology’.
On 27 september he was the Speaker of the XII national Conference SIEOG presenting his latest studies on ‘Border line and/or evolutive fetal pathologies’.
He was Scientific Director of a series of refresher seminaries of phisiopathology and prenatal clinic organized in 6 different meetings, each lasted 1 day. The first took place on 16 december and concerned ‘phisiopathology of the implant and abortion’ He also attended the meetings as Speaker.
In 2001 year he was confirmed Health Director of Artemisia in Rome (Centre of Prenatal diagnosis and maternal and fetal medicine) and of the new centre that Artemisia Group created in Milan; Expert Witness of the Health Governing Council, Health director of the Journal Ultrasonica ‘Italian journal of ultrasound in obstetrics and gynaecology) edited by CIC International Editions in Rome and Artemisia News, Editorial of Artemisia Group.
He was in Chieti as teacher at the University ‘Gabriele D’Annunzio’ where he attended a series of conferences on ‘Development and pathology of fetal head’.
On 27 january he was asked to participate as Speaker in Sicily, in Catania in the Conference whose title was ‘Relevant subjects in obstetrics and gynaecology: compared opinions’. The title of his report was ‘Prenatal diagnosis: the way it changed and the way it is changing’.
He created the first Italian internet site www.ilfeto.it, the equivalent of the international site www.thefetus.com
The site was registred as a newspapaer and has more than 6.500 monthly visits, it published hundreds of scientific international articles, the site answers every day hundreds of international letters from couples with problems concerning the reproductive system and pregnancy. Today it is the most advanced scientific and cultural site concerning prenatal and obstetric problems, internationally reliable as one of the reference sites for maternal and fetal pathologies.
In march he started the National Register of workers and experts in obstetric and gynaecologic echography and prenatal diagnosis (RENEDIP) that constitued a complete and updated database of all the workers and experts in this field with the following institutional aims:
- the representativeness and expert’s report of its members.
- The periodical accreditation of the same members in the estate organs and the regions that check and verify the medical activity and the E.C.M. (Ministry of Education, Health Ministry, National Federation of Medical Association, Istat (Central Statistics Institute), Thecnologic society of specific competence (manufacturing industries of ultrasound scanners and or instruments for those who work in the field of obstetric and gynaecologic echography and prenatal diagnosis.
- Epidemiologic Health Statistical surveys in the field of obstetrics and perinatal field.
On 5 may he attended in Palermo during the Congress of the Technologic evolution vs humanization of medicine where he gave a letione magistralis on ‘echographic diagnosis of the head and face anomalies’.
On 11 and 12 may he was chairman and organizator of the ‘refresher course in phisiopathology and prenatal clinic’. The course was organized in Rome at the Grand Hotel ‘Parco dei Principi’ and among the teachers, apart himself, there were his collaborators, important foreign scholars on genic therapies. During the course about 600 enroled specialist doctors took part.
At the end of may it was held an annual meeting of the workers of the group Artemisia that he run under the scientific and organizing point of view; Artemisia group is composed of:
- 22 premises all over the national country.
- More than 500 employees and consultants, most of them have post-degree qualifications in maternal and fetal medicine
- The group produced the majority of scientific works concerning obstetric and gynaecologic problems present in the international literature.
- it is recognized as the gratest centre of prenatal diagnosis in Italy whose dimensions are ten the size of most of the university premises.
- it records the greatest statistics of fetal pathologies and the study of pregnancy at risk.
On 1 june the EUROCAT (European Register of Congenital Anomalies) invited him to give a letione magistralis on ‘DNA in prenatal diagnosis’ during the ‘Workshop up to date on Prenatal medicine’ in Catania at the Hotel Baia Verde.
On 7 july Palermo was the city in which he attended the accreditating course for the workers in Obstetric gynaecology and workshop on Intrauterin cerebral damage organized by SIEOG with a report on ‘fetal brain echographic-anatomy correlations’.
On 22 september during the ‘Akragantine days of gynaecologic days’ he attended in Agrigento, as Speaker, a Conference presenting his latest studies on ‘prenatal diagnosis on cranio-facial anomalies’.
On 20 of the same month in Vibo Valentis during the II Workshop of endometrial pathology and the low genital tract’ he attended as Speaker on ‘Uterine factor and gestational capacity’.
On 1 october in Naples he attended an advanced theoretic and practical course in obstetrics and gynaecology. There, with his report in the session ‘prenatal diagnosis of the first quarter of pregnancy’ he presented the subject on ‘the cerebral pathology’.
On 6 and 7 december in Rome it was organized the Third Annual Course of the International College of Gynaecological imaging – meeting of the International College of gynaecological imaging where he was speaker presenting a work on ultrasound and ovarian cysts and Chairman in the session ‘ Ultrasound: ovarian and endometrial patterns in reproduction”.
On 15 of the same month he was speaker in Rossano Calabro where he presented his latest studies on ‘From ventriculomegaly to hidrocephalia, pathology and diagnosis’.

On 18 janurary at the Hospital ‘Bambino Gesù’ in Rome two days were organized and dedicated to the subject of Fetal diaphragmatic hernia he presented a report concerning his latest studies on ‘Prenatal diagnosis and obstetric behaviour’.
On 9 march in Siena during a refresher course on ‘From molecular genetics to prenatal invasive diagnosis’ he was asked to participate as speaker to present his latest studies concerning the eco-perceivable fetal pathology of malformations. There his report was ‘The fetal head and face: development, phisiopathology’.
On 11 april he was asked to participate in Rome at the Academy of obstetric and gynaecologic sciences to give a lecture on: ‘Diagnosis of infertility problems’.
On 18 may he was invited in Villasimius (CA) as Speaker at the II refresher course AOGOI in Embryo-fetal and perinatal medicine and in the Session ‘ultrasound scanner’, concerning the fetal malformations study, he presented his latest studies on ‘ultrasound study of the skeleton’ (24 credits ECM).
At CRA in Catania it was hold on 1 june a workshop on female infertility: treatment strategies. There he was Speaker presenting his considerations on ‘Curiosities and prejudices on the gestational capacity’. In june in Quartu (Cagliari) he was invited to the 12° sardinian days of gynaecology and obstetrics where he presented a report whose title was ‘Citogenetic amniocentesis and genetics: the DNA in prenatal diagnosis’.
On 18 september he was speaker in Altomonte (Cosenza) on occasion of the post graduate course in gynaecologic echography of second level organized by AOGOI. The title of the lesson was ‘Ovarian neoplasia diagnosis’ (credits ECM).
On 19 october in Catania at the theoretic and practical post graduate course in Reproductive medicine’ (15 credits ECM) organized by Fertilia s.r.l. he attended and presented his report ‘The implant’.
On 16 november in Grottammare (Ascoli Piceno) he attended the International Conference The obstetric practice A.D. 2002 the birth: which choice? As chairman during the session ‘The political choice’.
On 26 he was in Bergamo where he attended as Speaker the experimental and intensive course for obstetric: biophisical monitoring of pregnancy organized by the Ospedali Riuniti di Bergamo (Obstetric and gynaecologic organizing unity). On 3 may at the Azienda Ospedaliera ‘Cannizzaro’ in Catania he presented a report about ‘Diagnosis, counselling and management’ in the session ‘The twin pregnancy complicated by a monofetal pathology’ during a course ‘Subjects of fetal pathology: cross-disciplinary approach’.
On 12 may in Rome at the Foundation L. Einaudi he was teacher presenting the subject ‘Genetic tests in predictive medicine’.
On 30 may he attended the AOGOI Congress in Villasimius. The Session in which he was Speaker was maternal and fetal medicine, the title of his report was ‘trombophilia in pregnancy’ (credits ECM).
His appointment as Speaker and Chairman kept on 9 june in Catania during the II post-graduate course on ‘Early pregnancy’ Session : preclinical abortion embryo-gametic pathology of the implant, report: immunological and trombophilia factors. Chairman in the Session: Do we know the embryo? (prenatal surveys). Credits ECM.
On 28 june in Taormina Congress ‘Prenatal diagnosis and management of cardiopathies’ he was the Chairman at the session ‘Fetal cardiophaties: compared experiences and clinical cases (credits ECM).
On September 17th Speaker at the Specialization Course for Echographic Gynecological Diagnosis at Altomonte (CS). Organized by AOGOI: Report title: OVARIC NEOPLASMS DIAGNOSIS (Credit ECM).
On October 13th he participates in the 70th International Congress organized by the S.I.G.O. held in Catania, presenting two reports: THROMBOPHILIA AND RECURRING ABORTIONS; FUNCTION OF 3D ECHOGRAPHY AND OVARIC NEOPLASMS.
On October 16th in Rome, the ATHENA ASSOCIATION invited him to present the report on:
“CONSCIOUS AND RESPONSIBLE MOTHERHOOD, BETWEEN MORAL SCIENCE AND SOCIAL CONDITIONINGS”.
On October 18th at the Congress held at the Great Hall of S. Camillo Hospital in Rome on the “Ovarian Cists Management”, he presents his report “Echographic Diagnostic of Ovarian Swelling”.
On October 24th he participates in the Meeting at the Great Hall CARITAS CRISTIANA organized by the ONLUS ASSOCIATION concerning “PSYCO-SOCIAL AIM” to discuss the subject: “CHILDBIRTHS IN ITALY”. On October 14th he was included in the list of the independent applicants of the Group of Policy Advisers of the EUROPEAN COMMISSION.
In data 29/10/2003 il Prof. Claudio Giorlandino e’ stato inserito nella lista degli Independent Applicants del Gruppo dei Consulenti Politici della Commissione Europea. Membro della Commissione Nazionale per la Formazione Continua (ECM) presso il Ministero della Sal. Presidente Commissione Pari Opportunità e Salute del Cittadino costituita con Decreto Ministeriale presso la Presidenza del Consiglio dei Ministri in data 28 febbraio 2002. E’ stato per lungo tempo membro esperto del Consiglio Superiore di Sanità fino alle dimissioni per sopraggiunti impegni.
- L’altissimo interesse per la Diagnosi Prenatale ed i temi etico-sociale connessi lo hanno spinto a creare nel 1996, l’Associazione Artemisia ONLUS (per lo studio e l’assistenza delle patologie materno-fetali) di cui è Socio Fondatore, Responsabile e Coordinatore.

Il 20 gennaio a Palazzo San Macuto nell’ambito della Conferenza: Donne in Politica, organizzato dal Ministero delle Pari Opportunità viene invitato in qualità di Relatore.
Il 26 e 29 è Relatore presso l’Ospedale Bambino Gesù di Roma al Corso di Diagnosi Prenatale e di Chirurgia Neonatale. Qui presenterà rispettivamente due lavori:
- Fisiopatologia del feto timing ecografico generale
- Malformazioni Anorettali: Diagnosi Prenatale e counselling
Il 2 marzo a Roma, presso la Croce Rossa Italiana Aula Palasciano presenta un aggiornamento su: “Farmaci in gravidanza: rischi e benefici”. Il 27 viene invitato a Sulmona al Congresso Annuale L.A.M.M. per il 3° Corso di Aggiornamento in Ostetricia. In questa occasione la sua relazione riguarderà: “Trombofilie e gravidanza”.
Apre l’anno 2005 partecipando il 29 gennaio al Congresso sulla Fecondazione assistita a Terni discutendo il tema “Aspetti attuali della gravidanza gemellare”. Il giorno 18 aprile partecipa presso il Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche di Roma al “Corso teorico pratico semeiotica ecografica in ginecologia disfunzionale e medicina della riproduzione” aprendo la 1° sessione trattando il tema “Ruolo dell’ecografia nello studio dell’ovaio in età peripuberale e adolescenziale”. Il giorno 19 maggio partecipa come moderatore al 5° corso AOGOI di aggiornamento teorico pratico in medicina embrio fetale e perinatale a Villa Simius. Il 31 maggio viene invitato come docente al Corso organizzato dalla Croce Rossa Italiana con tema “ Farmaci e Gravidanza”. Il giorno 25 del mese di giugno partecipa in qualità di relatore al Convegno svoltosi a Roma dal titolo “Endometriosi malattia sociale” trattando il tema “Endometriosi extra ovarica”. Il 19 settembre è relatore sul tema “Diagnosi prenatale di CDH” a Bergamo nel Simposio Internazionale “Ernia Diaframmatica Congenita”. Il 21 settembre invece durante l’81° Congresso Nazionale SIGO, partecipa a Bologna come relatore al Simposio della Società italiana di Ecografia Ostetrico – Ginecologica (SIEOG) con tema “ L’ecografia in 3D e 4D in Ostetricia e Ginecologia –Dismorfismi facciali”. Il 4 ottobre viene invitato come docente presso l’aula Magna dell’Ospedale Sandro Pertini al corso Teorico pratico “Ecografia di emergenza in Ostetricia e Ginecologia” destinato ai Dirigenti medici delle U.O. Ostetrico Ginecologiche . Il 5 ottobre al Corso Biennale di Perfezionamento di Diagnostica Ecografica in Ginecologia ad Altomonte (CS) partecipa in qualità di Relatore trattando il tema : “Diagnosi delle neoplasie ovariche”. Sempre nel mese di Ottobre ma nel giorno 25 partecipa, a Milano, alla V Sessione del Convegno Congiunto sezioni di studio SIRM di ecografia e mezzi di contrasto con la relazione dal titolo “Ecografia 3D e 4D”. Nel mese di novembre, precisamente il giorno 5, è a Palermo discutendo il tema “Anomalie della fossa cranica posteriore” al Convegno “Anomalie fetali: dalle diagnosi differenziali all’inquadramento sindromico”. Il 6 dicembre a Roma è invitato a partecipare all’XI Congresso AGICO presso il Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR) con tema “Il Consultorio Familiare” trattando la relazione “La prevenzione delle patologie genetiche malconformative”.
Apre l’anno 2006 tenendo la lezione semestrale, il giorno 10 gennaio, alla Croce Rossa di Roma con tema “Farmaci in gravidanza”. Sempre a gennaio, il giorno 21, vola a Berlino per partecipare come relatore al “Nesa days 2006: Optimizing endoscopi”, per discutere la sua relazione con tema “Avoiding the post natal surgery by prenatal treatment of fetal ovarian cysts”. Presso l’Aula Salviati dell’Ospedale Bambino Gesu’ di Roma si svolge , dal 26 al 28 gennaio, il Corso “dalla diagnosi prenatale alla dimissione” che lo vede aprire i lavori il 26 trattando il tema “Fisiopatologia del feto: timing ecografico generale”. Durante il “7° International Adjournment in Physiological Medicine and Antiaging Medicine” a Roma il 28 gennaio viene invitato a parlare del tema “ Donna anche dopo la menopausa: aggiornamento del climaterio femminile”. Continua a collaborare stabilmente con Rubriche televisive della Prima Rete nazionale pubblica per problemi relativi alla salute ed alla diagnosi prenatale. Durante il 13° corso di formazione e di Competenza in Ecografia ed Ostetricia svoltosi a Roma dal 6 all’8 marzo presso l’Universita’Cattolica,presenta la relazione sulle “Anomalie fetali evolutive e/o a comparsa tardiva”. Nella sala conferenze dell’Ordine dei medici di Roma si e’ svolto il 13 maggio il Corso di aggiornamento “ultrasuoni nella pratica clinica”. E’ stato invitato a presentare una lezione sulla “Ecografia ostetrica” . Il 19 maggio e’ chiamato a tenere una relazione “sull’ecografia in 3D e 4D” durante il 6° corso AOGOI di aggiornamento Teorico Pratico in Medicina Embrio-Fetale e Perinatale a Villa Simius- Cagliari. Il 24 giugno e’ sempre ospite di un’isola ma stavolta la Sicilia, ad Agrigento, per trattare il tema delle “anomalie fetali evolutive e/a comparsa tardiva” al corso organizzato dalla SIEOG di Ecografia Ostetrica . Nel mese si giugno e’ spesso ospite alla trasmissione televisiva su Rai 1 “Domenica In”. Sempre per la SIEOG ma stavolta a Brescia il 27 settembre partecipa come Moderatore al Congresso Nazionale nella sessione dedicata all’ecografia in 3D e 4D. Come Moderatore partecipa anche al Congresso Nazionale SIGO a Roma il 3 ottobre nella sessione “sugli aspetti medico legali degli screening ecografici prenatali” insieme con il Prof Scollo. Il 12 ottobre presenta la sua lezione sui “farmaci in gravidanza” durante il corso di aggiornamento per farmacisti presso l’auditorium di Santa Maria degli Angeli a Roma. Il 2 dicembre presiede a L’Aquila come relatore, al V Corso di Aggiornamento in Chirurgia Pediatrica trattando il tema “Timing ecografico per una corretta e tempestiva diagnosi prenatale”.

Durante il mese di gennaio, presso l’Ospedale Pediatrico Bambino Gesù in Roma, partecipa sia in qualità di moderatore nell’ambito della sessione dedicata al Teratoma sacro-coccigeo che come relatore nella giornata dedicata all’argomento “Aspetti generali” esponendo la relazione “Fisiopatologia del feto. Timing ecografico generale”. Sempre nel mese di gennaio è invitato dall’Ordine dei farmacisti della provincia di Roma, a presenziare al Corso di aggiornamento per farmacisti presso l’Aula Magna del Rettorato dell’Università degli studi di Roma “La Sapienza” per trattare il tema “Argomenti di ostetricia pratica ad uso del farmacista”. Il giorno 3 marzo è stato rieletto per la seconda volta Presidente della Società Italiana di Diagnosi Prenatale e di Medicina Materno Fetale durante il 1° Congresso Nazionale della S.I.Di.P. presso l’Auditorium Conciliazione in Roma, dove ha partecipato anche come relatore trattando il tema “Patologie sistematiche di neurosonologia e neuropatologia strutturale fetale”. Il 9 marzo presiede al convegno, presso il Campidoglio a Roma, promosso dall’Associazione “Centro di Mediazione Coppia e Famiglia 2000” , dove tratta “L’effetto paradosso della legge 40: nata per tutelare la vita nascente sembra rivelarsi nemica dell’embrione”. Il 22 marzo è ospite a Padova, presso l’Ospedale Busonera, durante il 4° corso multidisciplinare dalla Diagnosi Prenatale alla Dimissione dove è chiamato a tenere una relazione sulla “fisiopatologia del feto” . Il 26 aprile, con decreto del Ministro della Salute, è stato nominato Esperto del Consiglio Superiore di Sanità per il triennio 2006-2009. Il 4 maggio è invitato come relatore a Roma, al XXVIII Congresso Nazionale della Società Italiana di Medicina Estetica, con sede al Centro Congressi Cavalieri Hilton, dove espone la relazione dal titolo “linee guida della terapia ormonale sostitutiva in menopausa”. L’11 maggio, come relatore, è presente al 3D Day, presso l’Aula Magna dell’Ospedale San Pietro Fatebenefratelli in Roma durante la sessione “Ecografia Ginecologica: patologia uterina”. Alla fine di maggio, come ormai ogni anno, partecipa in Sardegna a Villasimius, come relatore, al 7° Corso AOGOI di Aggiornamento Teorico Pratico in Medicina Embrio-Fetale e Perinatale trattando il tema “Screening US delle Malformazioni al II Trimestre: Segni Indiretti”. Il 15 giugno è invitato a Vicenza, presso l’Ospedale San Bartolo, come presidente dell’evento, al Corso di accreditamento Sca-Test® (Screening Ecografico e/o Biochimico Multiplo e Computerizzato per il Calcolo del Rischio Effettivo di Aneuploidia Fetale nel Primo e nel Secondo Trimestre di Gravidanza) del quale è Responsabile di Progetto e Sviluppo.
Il 20 giugno è convocato in qualità di Membro Esperto del Consiglio Superiore di Sanità al fine di valutare il quesito dell’On. Sig. Ministro su “un eventuale aggiornamento delle linee guida contenenti l’indicazione delle procedure e delle tecniche di procreazione medicalmente assistita”.
Dall’1 al 3 settembre è invitato ad Istanbul al NESA Days 2007 ( The Second Annual Scientific Meeting of the New European Surgical Academy) con due diverse relazioni : “Treatment of Extremely Severe Fetal Anemia” e “The Easiest and Most Effective Fetal Treatment for Obstructive Uropathy”.
Dal 20 al 22 settembre partecipa, a Cosenza, in qualità di relatore, alle giornate SIEOG di formazione in ecografia ostetrica nella sessione sul “III Trimestre” con la relazione “Anomalie fetali evolutive e/o a comparsa tardiva”.
Ad ottobre, a Napoli, è invitato come presidente, sia nella sessione “IUGR: FISIOPATOLOGIA” che nel Simposio Satellite della S.I.Di.P. in cui il tema trattato è stato “Screening computerizzato Aneuploidie fetali “SCA-TEST” dove ha riscosso un grandissimo successo.
Sempre ad ottobre, precisamente il 20, è invitato, dall’Ordine dei farmacisti di Roma, a tenere una lezione al Corso di Aggiornamento per Farmacisti presso l’Auditorium Santa Maria degli Angeli a Roma.
Il 16 novembre, presso il Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche in Roma, in qualità di presidente della S.I.Di.P., interviene come Chairman nel Corso Sistematico di Diagnosi Prenatale e Cardiopatie Congenite : metodo P.Jeanty”.

A Roma, dal 24 al 26 gennaio, presso l’Ospedale Pediatrico Bambino Gesù, partecipa in qualità di relatore nella sessione “Lesioni Polmonari: MACCP/Sequestro”. Negli stessi giorni, esattamente il 25 gennaio, presso il Centro Congressi Artemisia, interviene al Convegno “Il doping e le conseguenti sanzioni nel diritto sportivo e nel diritto ordinario”. Il 13 febbraio, presso l’Aula Magna del Rettorato Università degli Studi Di Roma “La Sapienza”, come di consueto, tiene una lezione al “Corso di Aggiornamento per Farmacisti”. Il 15 febbraio è presente a Bologna al “Corso di ecografia ginecologica ed andrologica in medicina della riproduzione” , come relatore nella sessione “La gravidanza iniziale” con una lezione sulle “Tecniche di Screening del II Trimestre”, e come moderatore nella sessione “Controversie ed aspetti emergenti”. Nel mese di marzo è invitato, come sempre, dall’Ordine dei farmacisti della provincia di Roma, a presenziare al Corso di aggiornamento per farmacisti presso la sede romana della Croce Rossa Italiana per trattare il tema della “Menopausa”. Il 1 aprile è invitato a Roma al convegno, patrocinato dalla Provincia di Roma, “Genitori oggi con scienza e conoscenza” dove tratta il tema “Un figlio a quarantanni”. A maggio, come ogni anno, è invitato a Villasimius, in Sardegna, per l’8° Corso AOGOI di Aggiornamento Teorico Pratico in Medicina Embrio-Fetale e Perinatale, come relatore, trattando il tema “News nello Screening Ecografico al II Trimestre per le Malformazioni”. Il 21 giugno è presente a Roma, presso l’Hotel Crown Plaza, partecipa al Convegno “SGA: cause e conseguenze del basso peso alla nascita”, come chiarman nella sessione “Dal Feto al Neonato SGA”. Nello stesso anno è eletto Coordinatore del Gruppo di Imprese, Laboratori e Diagnostica nell’ambito della Sezione Sanità di Confindustria. Sempre nel 2008, precisamente il 6 ottobre, partecipa all’84° Congresso SIGO, in qualità di Presidente della Società Italiana di Diagnosi Prenatale e Medicina Materno-fetale (S.I.DI.P), al Simposio satellite in cui vengono trattati i temi: “La profilassi antibiotica nell’amniocentesi del II trimestre “, “L’ ecocardiografia fetale” e “Lo screning ecografico del I e del II trimestre tramite lo SCA-TEST (Screening computerizzato Aneuploidie fetali) riscuotendo un grandissimo successo.
Mentre il 24 novembre, è invitato a partecipare, presso il Senato della Repubblica, in occasione della VII edizione del Premio AILA “Progetto Donna”, in qualità di relatore, alla Tavola Rotonda dal titolo “La donna del III millennio : aspetti sociali e biologici”.

A Roma, il 25 febbraio, presso l’Aula Magna del Rettorato Università degli Studi Di Roma “La Sapienza”, come ogni anno, tiene una lezione magistrale durante il Corso di Aggiornamento per Farmacisti sul tema “ trattamenti dell’infertilità femminile” . Il 6 ed il 7 marzo, a Cattolica, in qualità di Presidente della Società Italiana di Diagnosi Prenatale e Medicina Materno-fetale (S.I.Di.P.), presiede al Corso Formativo di Ecocardiografia Fetale. Sabato 17 aprile è invitato al Convegno Regionale AOGOI Campania come relatore, ad una tavola rotonda, con l’argomento“Elementi a favore del taglio cesareo”.Sempre ad aprile, ma il giorno 18, partecipa come relatore, con una lezione dal titolo “Il presente e il futuro degli esami invasivi per la diagnosi prenatale”. Sempre nel mese di aprile collabora con la trasmissione televisiva UNO MATTINA di Rai Uno nella rubrica Salute in Rosa per problemi relativi alla salute della donna ed alla diagnosi prenatale. L’ 8 maggio, presso il Centro Congressi Cavalieri Hilton di Roma, partecipa, in qualità di relatore con la lezione ” Un farmaco chiamato desiderio: perchè gli androgeni in menopausa”al XXX Congresso Nazionale della Società Italiana della Medicina Estetica. Il giorno successivo, 9 maggio, è ospite a Vasto, dove è chiamato a tenere una relazione sulla”Fisiopatologia dell’impianto e dello sviluppo placentare”. Il 15 ed il 16 maggio è stato presente al Convegno Sidip, presso la prestigiosa sede di Villa Spada a Roma, in qualità di Presidente della società scientifica e come unico oratore del “Corso sistematico di neurosonologia e neuropatologia strutturale fetale “. Alla fine di maggio, come ormai di consueto, è invitato in Sardegna a Villasimius, questa volta come moderatore nella sessione “Casi fisiologici e patologici di ecografia 2D,3-4D e Doppler Flussimetria “, al 9° Corso AOGOI di Aggiornamento Teorico Pratico in Medicina Embrio-Fetale e Perinatale. Nel mese sucessivo, precisamente il 6 giugno, è invitato a tenere una lettura magistrale su”Le nuove tecnologie in ecografia: speculazione scientifica a Siracusa al Congresso SIEOG 2009 sull’ Ecografia Ostetrica e Ginecologica. Nello stesso mese pubblica, insieme ai suoi collaboratori, il più grande Trial randomizzato in diagnosi prenatale (APGA Trial) sulla rivista Prenatal Diagnosis, dove viene dimostrata l’assoluta efficacia della profilassi antibiotica della prevenzione dell’aborto dopo l’amniocentesi. Nel mese di luglio è stato nominato Consulente di due Commissioni Parlamentari, quella di “Inchiesta sugli Errori in Campo Sanitario e sulle Cause dei Disavanzi Sanitari Regionali” e quella “Affari Sociali”. Mentre il 26 settembre è invitato a Catania, in qualità di moderatore, al “Workshop sull’Infertilità Femminile e Strategie di Trattamento” nella sessione”PMA, nuove acquisizioni”. Nel mese di ottobre, è chiamato nuovamente a conferire sul tema “ trattamenti dell’infertilità femminile” al Corso di Aggiornamento per Farmacisti a Roma. Sempre ad ottobre, ma verso la fine, è presente a Bari al Congresso Sigo 2009, sia a tenere una lettura magistrale “Sullo stato dell’arte in diagnostica prenatale” che a partecipare, in qualità di Presidente della S.I.Di.P., al simposio satellite su “La diagnosi prenatale invasiva: Up to date”. Il 6 novembre partecipa al congresso”Dalla diagnosi prenatale alla dimissione…e oltre” presso l’Ospedale Pediatrico Bambino Gesù, con una relazione dal titolo”Il caso indimenticabile”. Mentre il 13 novembre è invitato a Paestum al 4° Corso di Aggiornamento in Diabetologia per tenere una relazione dal titolo “Dismetabolismo in gravidanza. Uso della metformina e vantaggi della dieta proteica”. Il 18 ed il 19 novembre è Presidente, a Roma, del Corso S.I.Di.P. su “Lo studio morfologico del feto. Cosa vedere, come refertare, come evitare di sbagliare” dove partecipa anche con la relazione “La refertazione ragionata”. Il Corso, che per la novità e l’importanza dell’argomento trattato ha richiamato la presenza di più di ottocento ginecologi, ha riscosso grandissimo consenso. L’11 dicembre, presso l’Ara Pacis a Roma, presenta con successo il suo romanzo “A Cavallo della Luna” in cui narra la storia del padre Pino, impegnato in prima persona in Libia durante la colonizzazione italiana e la seconda guerra mondiale. Inoltre, dal mese di dicembre collabora con la trasmissione televisiva UNO MATTINA SABATO & DOMENICA di Rai Uno con una rubrica riguardante la salute della donna in generale.

Il giorno 11 gennaio partecipa al Master di Neonatologia dell’Università di Roma “La Sapienza” svolgendo una lezione dal titolo “Diagnosi Prenatale”. Il 5 febbraio è invitato a Bratto (BG) al Congresso “Appunti di Ostetricia e Ginecologia in Valle Seriana” in qualità di relatore con una lezione dal titolo “Fattori critici dei test di screening delle anomalie cromosomiche”. Il 18 e il 19 marzo, a Roma, presso il Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (C.N.R.) , è presente sia in qualità di Presidente della Società Italiana di diagnosi Prenatale e Medicina Materno-Fetale (S.I.Di.P.) che come relatore, al Corso “Medicina materno-fetale oggi: argomenti scelti per rimanere aggiornati su temi sensibili”. Sabato 8 maggio partecipa, a Magliano in Toscana, al congresso “Dagli Ormoni agli Embrioni” con una relazione dal titolo “Gli orizzonti della lettura dei test invasivi”. Sempre nel mese di maggio è invitato, come ormai ogni anno, in Sandegna a Villasimius, in qualità di moderatore, durante il 10° Corso di Aggiornamento Teorico Pratico in Medicina Embrio-Fetale e Perinatale. Il 4 giugno è ospite a Catania con una lettura magistrale dal titolo “Profilo generale dell’esame morfologico: principi e confini” durante il V Corso Nazionale di Formazione Permanente su: Terapie Ormonali in Ginecologia. Mentre il 14 giugno è chiamato a conferire sul tema “La contraccezione” al Corso di Aggiornamento per Farmacisti a Roma all’Auditorium della Croce Rossa. Dall’11 al 14 luglio è stato invitato alla 15^ International Conference on prenatal Diagnosis per tenere una relazione su “Antibiotic Prophylaxis before second-trimester genetic amniocentesis (APGA) : a single centre-open randomised controlled trial” e partecipare, sempre in quel contesto, in qualità di Presidente della S.I.Di.P, all’ Eplorary meeting with all the Representatives of the allied societies. Il 6-7-8 ottobre partecipa, a Roma, al 2° Congresso Nazionale S.I.Di.P. in qualità di Presidente uscente, come unico docente del Corso Precongressuale sulla “Flussimetria Fetale” e come relatore con una lezione dal titolo “La Placenta: il nuovo punto di vista”. Durante lo stesso Congresso, che ha richiamato a Roma tantissimi ginecologi da tutta Italia, il Prof Claudio Giorlandino viene eletto Segretario Nazionale della S.I.Di.P.. Sempre nello stesso mese, il giorno 19, partecipa a Roma alla 2^ Conferenza Nazionale A.GI.CO. (Associazione Ginecologi Consultoriali) con una relazione dal titolo “Ruolo attuale dell’ecografia 3D-4D in ostetricia.Diagnostica o Glamour?”. Il 23 ottobre è ospite a Pescara con una lettura magistrale dal titolo “Nuovi orizzonti in medicina perinatale” durante il Congresso “Test di screening, ecografia e diagnosi prenatale: la valutazione del benessere fetale nel 3° millennio”. Il 12 novembre partecipa, ad Andria, ad un incontro sulla “Medicina e Diritto Penale” organizzato in collaborazione con la Facoltà di Giurisprudenza dell’Università degli studi di Bari, in qualità di docente relatore, con la lezione “Profilo generale dell’esame di screening morfologico di primo livello:principi e confini di responsabilità professionale”. Il 17 novembre è a Milano per il SIGO 2010, come relatore, nell’ambito del simposio S.I.Di.P con la lezione dal titolo “Responsabilità professionale dell’ecografista ostetrico: il principio ex post”.

L’11 gennaio, a Roma, partecipa, presso l’Accademia Lancisiana, ad un simposio su “Gli aspetti attuali dell’accompagnamento alla nascita “con una relazione sull'”Ecografia Ostetrica”. Sempre a gennaio, ma il giorno 18, è invitato a partecipare a milano ad una conferenza stampa “Sulle cellule staminali da liquido amniotico” organizzata dall’ azienda italiana “Biocell Center”. Il 26 gennaio, presso l’Aula Magna del Rettorato dell’università di Roma “La Sapienza”, come ogni anno tiene una lezione magistrale durante il Corso di Aggiornamento per Farmacisti su “Farmaci, consigli dietetici ed urgenze in gravidanza”. Il 2 febbraio, a Roma, è invitato in qualità di moderatore, al prestigioso congresso internazionale su “Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia: more questions than answers!”.
Il 10 marzo è a Catania per partecipare come relatore al V Corso Teorico-Pratico sulle Emergenze in Ostetricia. Il giorno seguente, l’11 marzo, è al CNR di Roma, in qualità di Segretario Nazionale della società scientifica al congresso S.I.Di.P su “Il NUOVO istituto della mediazione nel contenzioso MEDICO-LEGALE”. Il 19 maggio è invitato al XXII Congresso Nazionale di Vitaminologia, presso l’Accademia di Storia dell’Arte Sanitaria, a tenere una lettura magistrale su “L’importanza della vitamine in gravidanza”. Il 24 giugno partecipa al “Corso sulla Sicurezza in Sala Parto” ad Orvieto.
Dal 26 al 28 ottobre partecipa, in qualità di Segretario Nazionale, al 3° Congresso Nazionale della Società Italiana di Diagnosi Prenatale e Medicina Materno-Fetale (S.I.Di.P), tenendo varie letture magistrali sulla Morfologia del Feto.

Durante questo anno il Prof Giorlandino diviene Presidente della Fondazione Artemisia che nasce dall’iniziativa del Prof. Claudio Giorlandino allo scopo di divulgare i risultati ottenuti dai ricercatori di ARTEMISIA S.p.A. e di sostenere la ricerca sulle patologie della Gestante e del Feto. La Fondazione è costituita il 1 agosto e viene presentata al pubblico e alla stampa il 12 dicembre, presso la Casina Valadier di Roma, durante una serata di beneficenza.

Il 28 gennaio, a Roma, tiene una lezione magistrale dal titolo “Novità sulle terapie del parto pre-termine” presso Aula Magna del Rettorato dell’Università “Sapienza” durante il Corso di aggiornamento per i farmacisti anno 2013″. Il 26 marzo è invitato a Palermo al Corso di Secondo Livello di Ecografia Ostetrica, in qualità di docente, a tenere due relazioni : “Anomalie Toraciche (polmone e diaframma)” e “Anomalie dell’apparato urogenitale”. Il 23 maggio partecipa, presso l’Aula Magna Forlanini dell’Ospedale San Camillo di Roma, al corso “La Diagnosi Prenatale: attualità e percorsi futuri” con una importante relazione sullo Screening Ecografico delle Aneuploidie. Nello stesso mese, cinque giorni dopo, è presente al congresso Il Neonato con Sospetta Patologia Chirurgica con la lezione sulla ” Diagnosi Prenatale e Conselling”. Il 7 giugno è invitato dal Dr Morelli ad Orvieto al Corso di Aggiornamento in Ginecologia e Ostetricia dove partecipa con una relazione dal titolo “Pavimento pelvico: aspetti di diagnostica ecografica”.”. Il 20 Settembre è invitato dalla Sifiog presso il Teatro Talia di Tagliacozzo (AQ) al Congresso “Alimentazione ed Integrazione quali Strategie Terapeutiche nella Pratica Clinica Ginecologica” con la relazione “Omega 3 e minaccia di parto pretermine: la via vaginale una alternativa?”. Il 25 ottobre è a Palermo per i “Corsi di II Livello di Ecografia Ostetrica” dove presenta le relazioni “Anomalie toraciche (polmone e diaframma)” e “Anomalie dell’apparato urogenitale”.

Il 7 febbraio è invitato al Congresso Regionale dell’AOGOI “Donna e salute – Tradizione e progresso tecnologico” con la relazione “Flussimetria e prevenzione del danno neurologico”. Il 28 marzo partecipa al Congresso “Screening delle malformazioni fetali: up to date dalla diagnosi alla responsabilità medica” con le relazioni “Screening delle malformazioni fetali nel primo trimestre”, “L’esame premorfologico fetale a 18 settimane” e “Le malformazioni fetali: casi clinici”. Il 31 marzo è invitato al Corso per Farmacisti di Roma dove presenta la relazione “Farmaci e integratori in gravidanza”. Il 10 maggio tiene una lezione magistrale dal titolo “Vitamine e Gravidanza” durante il XXIV “Congresso Nazionale di Vitaminologia” presso l’Ospedale Santo Spirito di Roma. Il 24 maggio è ospite del Congresso AOGOI “Focus sull’endometriosi: terapia farmacologica e chirurgia” con la relazione “La nuova diagnosi prenatale alla luce dell’introduzione dello studio dell’esame nella genetica umana: la Next Generation Prenatal Diagnosis”. Il 30 maggio è a Orvieto per il IV Congresso Nazionale della Sifiog “Venerdì Orvietani di aggiornamento in ginecologia e ostetricia” in qualità di moderatore della II Sessione “Malattie infettive in gravidanza”. Il 4 giugno è invitato al XIX Congresso Nazionale AGICO “Benessere e bellezza in Gravidanza” (Centro Congressi Salesianum di Roma) con la relazione “Diagnostica prenatale: procedure invasive”. Il 10 luglio con la relazione dal titolo “Ecografia e Nuove Tecnologie nella Diagnosi Prenatale” partecipa al XV Corso di genetica: le malattie genetiche come malattie sociali – I nuovi orizzonti della medicina alla luce delle nuove tecnologie genetiche” , presso l’Auditorium dell’Università D’Annunzio di Chieti Scalo. Il 13 settembre è ospite dell’Advisory Board Meeting Ariosa a Barcellona. Il 29 settembre tiene la relazione dal titolo “Diagnosi prenatale: dal cariotipo alla Next Generation Prenatal Diagnosis” nell’ambito dell’89° Congresso Nazionale SIGO a Cagliari. Martedi 4 novembre, durante la conferenza stampa dal titolo “Svelato il Dna del feto, arriva la Super Amniocentesi. Svolta nella Diagnosi Prenatale”, organizzata a Roma dall’Italian College of Fetal Maternal Medicine, società in cui ricopre la carica di Segretario Nazionale, interviene con una relazione:”Dagli albori della diagnosi prenatale fino alla straordinaria scoperta del genoma fetale: la diagnosi completa”. Il giorno 8 novembre partecipa come docente e come moderatore al II Corso di Formazione in Medicina della Riproduzione e Diagnosi Prenatale con la relazione “ Studiare il feto nel III Trimestre”.
